8 Things Successful People Do Every Night

Successful people come in all walks of life, however, one thing they do have in common is they’ve identified goals in there lives, and they’ve created routines which take them closer to their goals every day. Nothing is done overnight, however, with persistence, even the biggest obstacle can eventually be broken down.

So we’ve identified routines are important. Your mind probably went into a morning routine. Yes, morning routines are important as they give you a plan for your day and a clear direction of what needs to be done. Night time routines are just as important; it can give you a chance to reflect on how well the day went and give yourself a chance to ask the question ‘What could have been done better?’ Here are the 8 things successful people do every night.

Night Time Habits For Successful People

1. Reflect on your goals

At the end of the day, one of the best things you can do is gather your thoughts and briefly record what you’ve done for the day. This gives you accountability for your day and allows you to spot any issues that have come up. Also, do keep in mind that it doesn’t need to be an hour-long session. 5 to 10 minutes a day should be enough. If you make something easy to do. It is more likely to become a habit. And that is when real progress can be made.

2. Capture snippets of your best ideas

Have you ever had that moment when a great idea comes to you, however, you cant really do anything about it in the moment, so you just sort of forget about it and it fades away? Yup, happens to a lot of us. At the end of each day take a moment to think about any ideas that have been floating around in your head and write them down. That way you are more aware of them, and you can come back to them in the future.

3. Plan out the following day

The best way to get the most efficient results for the following day is to plan the night before. If you do not have a clear plan for the day, you will be left with ambiguity, which leads to procrastination. So in order not to spend any time thinking about what you need to do, decide it in advance. That way, when the day begins, you will have a set ‘to do list’ which you can immediately begin acting on.

4. Prepare your breakfast

Yes, I know. This one sounds like an unusual one. But hear me out. One thing that takes time away from you every morning is breakfast. That leads to some of us simply skipping breakfast and running out the door with a morning coffee. Breakfast gives you a great start on your day, and if preparing the night before is a way of ensuring you have breakfast every day then it’s definitely worth it!

5. Unplug 2 hours before bed

When you learn to unplug from your phone, social media and any other sort of other electronics, you will start getting much more sleep every day. Not only is scrolling through the different social media feeds a way to distract you from sleeping, but staring at your bright smartphone’s screen will prevent you from feeling sleepy, this is because the devices are tricking our brains into thinking its still the middle of the day. So do yourself a favor and switch it all of. Start with 10 minutes before bed and slowly work your way up to an hour or 2.

6. Read a book

I’m sure this doesn’t come as a surprise to you. But successful people read! If you do it every night, even for 15 minutes, you will instantly put yourself in a better position to constantly expand your mind. On top of that, reading, a book could be a healthy replacement for scrolling through social media on your smartphone if you’re stuck for something to do before falling asleep.

7. Establish a nighttime routine

As humans, we are creatures of habit. If you follow a specific night time routine, regardless of what it is. It could be flossing and brushing, having a shower, getting into comfy PJs. Your subconscious will associate your nighttime routine with sleep and you will find it much easier to fall asleep. As soon as you finish your routine you will feel your eyes getting heavier and the brain will begin the process of switching you off.

8. Record what you have accomplished that day

This is probably one of the most important points on this list. Reflection and thinking about what you could have done better are great. It helps you recognize areas for improvement. However, thinking about what you’ve done well is equally as important. It allows you to re-enforce your positive habits, give yourself a great sense of accomplishment, motivates yourself to continue what you’re doing right and overall allow you to feel good about yourself!
